Katya is a classically trained pianist with a master of music degree in piano accompanying and chamber music.  She worked as a staff accompanist at Interlochen Arts Camp (Michigan) and at Westminster Choir College (Princeton, NJ).


As a professional musical director/pianist, Katya’s credits include: musical director for A Jew Grows in Brooklyn (National Tour); musical director for To Paint The Earth (New York Music Theater Festival), assistant conductor/pianist for Dreamgirls (Prince Music Theatre, Philadelphia); keyboardist/bandleader for Menopause the Musical (Society Hill Playhouse, Philadelphia).  Most recently, Katya was the musical director and pianist for Playwrights Horizons Theatre School’s production of Nobody Loves a Genius Child: The Songs of Ricky Ian Gordon.  This spring, she will be the assistant musical director and pianist for Sunday in the Park with George at the Arden Theatre in Philadelphia; next fall she will be the musical director of Sweeney Todd at Temple University.


Since moving to New York, Katya has been active in the development of new works.  She musically directed world premieres of Cheerwars! by Karlan Judd and Gordon Leary, Dizzy by Kelly Dobitz, Jason Young, and JiYoung Chang, both at the New Musicals Summer Workshop at NYU, and Pop! by Maggie-Kate Coleman and Anna Jacobs (NYU-SCAN).
